Ali is a Ph.D. candidate specializing in political methodology, with a focus on machine learning and deep learning applications in social science data.
Ali's dissertation project, titled "Three Essays on AI and Political Behavior" (Chair: Jeff Gill), uses machine learning and deep learning techniques to advance survey research.
Ali teaches modules on Generalized Additive Models (GAMs) and AI applications in political science at the "Institute for Data Science and Big Data." He has served as a teaching assistant for over 12 courses across the Department of Mathematics and Statistics and quantitative courses in the School of Public Affairs. He is also a Graduate Fellow at the Center for Data Science.
